Training Makes the Difference

PCS Training Programs

As the business environment becomes more and more competitive, the demand for screened, well-trained, efficient custodial personnel is increasingly evident.

At Professional Cleaning Systems, we believe that janitors must be trained in the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment to avoid damaging carpet, tile, wood, and other surfaces within your facility, as well as to maintain them over the life of the building.

Our entire training program is designed for new employees having little or no exposure to current cleaning procedures. It also serves as a reorientation for more experienced personnel.

Security and Safety within the work environment has also become a major concern. Assuring the security and safety of custodial personnel as well as your employees is a significant part of our training.

The PCS Training Program divides into three phases:

1. Initial Training

2. Intermediate Training

3. Ongoing Training

Initial Training

This section of the PCS Training Program, designed for screening personnel, provides basic product and equipment knowledge.

Each employee candidate undertakes a minimum two-week training program to learn PCS standard cleaning procedures, which incorporate the proper use of cleaning chemicals to maximize efficiency.

During this time, the employee will work hand in hand with a lead supervisor to ensure that he/she fully understands our policies and procedures.

Prior to permanently assigning your company a new employee, the new trainee will work as a supervisor’s assistant for a minimum of three months. During this evaluation period, PCS determines the employee’s level of experience, adaptability, work ethics, and ability to listen to and follow instructions.

Intermediate Training

Intermediate training, which occurs on-site at the customer’s facility, is designed to familiarize staff with a customer’s particular cleaning requirements.

For customers requiring more than one janitor, the PCS Operations Manager assigns specific duties and areas of responsibility.

A lead supervisor is assigned to each customer to ensure good communications with the PCS management staff. The lead supervisor is responsible for assessing cleaning requirements and cleaning supplies, as well as for providing special services such as stripping and waxing, or buffing of floors, carpet shampoo, window washing, and detail dusting. A lead supervisors also covers any emergencies that may arise.

This training period continues for a minimum of two weeks and is closely monitored by the Operations Manager until effective procedures are implemented with quality controls.

At the end of the training period, a normal frequency of inspections is jointly established with your Facilities Department and our Operations Management Team.

On-going Training

To ensure that quality remains at a high level, PCS has established an on-going training program.

As new cleaning equipment and materials are introduced to the industry that could improve service, PCS takes responsibility for training the janitorial staff in the proper use of these materials.

Cross-training also takes place at this time, so that key staff are trained to handle areas of responsibility beyond their usual duties. This helps to minimize gaps and fluctuations in service due to absenteeism, illness and vacation. It also ensures that trained personnel, already familiar with your facility, are always available.

In addition, we publish an employee newsletter every other week to help update our employees with the latest industry cleaning methods and practices. As a result, our employees are always up-to-date on new procedures, tools, and techniques to clean and kill germs.
